Download and install the Spyware / Adware removal programs below. 
Both Spybot and Ad-Aware are free downloads, as are all future updates, and for the average PC user are highly recommended for Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 Pro, XP and Vista.   If you already have spyware/adware protection from your AntiVirus software, we still recommended the use of these programs.  More advanced users are urged to read this.
Fully functional, 15 to 30 day Trial AntiVirus programs are available from Kaspersky,  Panda,  Bit Defender,  CA, and Trend Micro.  We no longer recommend Symantec/Norton or McAfee, both are slow and bloated.
If you choose to buy an AV product, it is highly recommended that you purchase AV software on CD-ROM, instead of downloading the full version from the vendor.
Although most AV program will prevent this, more than one AntiVirus program should not be installed on a PC at the same time.  Please call RAM if you cannot uninstall your AntiVirus program.
The best free AV / anti-spyware program available is AVG Free v. 8  If you try it, do not choose 'Daily Scan' - instead, do a monthly manual scan.
Microsoft's Windows Defender for XP (it's built into Vista)
